“I strive to create beauty through color, design, and subject matter. I wish to celebrate the integrity of nature and hope that my attention to it will remind the viewer to look for it around them and within themselves and others.
Landscapes, people, and animals are my favorite subjects. No art can reproduce the astounding beauty and nuance of nature, but nature inspires me to portray my feelings and thoughts about it through the limited means of art materials. “The longer I live the more beautiful life becomes. It you foolishly ignore beauty, you will soon find yourself without it. Your life will be impoverished. But if you invest in beauty, it will remain with you all the days of your life.” Frank Lloyd Wright”
Janis has been a full time painter since 1999. She began her studies in the trompe l’oeil class at the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, in order to learn decorative painting techniques. Up until 2003, she concentrated on murals, specialty painting, portraits and other commissioned pieces, working mainly in acrylics, either directly on walls or on canvas.
Since 2003, she has been working mostly in oils, outdoors and in the studio, painting landscapes, still lifes, portraits and figures. She continues to paint murals, decorative work, and other commissioned pieces on site and in the studio.
Special Information: I’m available for commissions for either paintings on canvas, etc., or murals directly on walls.
