Jennie Kirkpatrick works in watercolor, acrylic and mixed media. After living and traveling in various states and Japan (2 years) and and Tunisia (3 years) with her two children and naval officer husband, Jennie and family returned to her home state of Tennessee.
She then taught Drawing, Design, Art History and Art Appreciation as an adjunct professor at UT Chattanooga, Cleveland State Community College and Tennessee Wesleyan College for eight years.
For fifteen years beginning with murals, she went to large scale projects, primarily for residential clients from her studio in downtown Cleveland, TN. developing a business in wall finishes. Returning to fine arts, her first love, she now shows her work at Museum Center at Five Points, Cleveland, TN, Athens Arts Center, Athens, TN and In Town Gallery on the North Shore, Frazier Avenue, Chattanooga, TN. A listing of other shows may be had upon request.
Subject matter ranges from scenes of travels to genre scenes of people caught in an interesting moment, still life subjects and abstract works. The arrangement of colors, shapes and values determine an interesting composition which often is inspired by a photographic reference.
