MARIAN KERN

Growing up with a mother who loved creating beautiful things out of cloth and fiber helped launch Marian Kern into the wonderful world of beads. She has been making one-of-a-kind beaded jewelry out of semi-precious gems, hand-crafted lampwork beads, pearls, silver, gold, and seed beads for the past 9 years.

After being a financial administrator for a government agency for most of her working life, and wanting to get reacquainted with the right side of her brain, Marian began taking courses in silversmithing.  However, in 1997, Marian and her husband sold their home in Atlanta and traveled the country in their motorcoach for several years, thus making working in silver impossible.

In 1999, Marian took a beading workshop and was instantly hooked!  She discovered that for her, there is something intensely sensual about working with beads - the many colors, the diverse textures, and the vast variety of combinations that can be utilized to make a thing of beauty.

Since that time she has taken many beading workshops from nationally known beading artists. Marian’s work has been shown in several galleries in the Southwest, and was featured in the annual state-wide Arizona Designer Craftsman juried show.   She also enjoys teaching and has taught several beginning and advanced beading classes.
