Janis has worked mostly in oils outdoors and in the studio, doing landscapes, still lifes, portraits and figures.

Janis has been a full time painter since 1999.  She began her studies in the trompe l’oeil class at the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy, in order to learn decorative painting techniques.  Up until 2003, she concentrated on murals, specialty painting, portraits and other commissioned pieces, working mainly in acrylics either directly on walls or on canvas.

 Since 2003, she has worked mostly in oils outdoors and in the studio, doing landscapes, still lifes, portraits and figures.  Many of her landscape oils were completed on site in Tuscany and Colorado as well as locally in Tennessee.  She continues to paint murals and other commissioned pieces.
